This series of collages began with thoughts about the women my mother’s generation held as role models—then First Lady Mamie Eisenhower could have been a role model for my mom and many young women of the 1950s. The artists of that time, though, were less familiar and the women artists even more unlikely to be recognized. So, I started wanting both women artists and First Ladies to be recognized as role models.
